Recent Weddings - John and Loralie

We have just uploaded the pictures from John and Loralie's wedding. You can see a selection at recent weddings and all of the images at client gallery. I have uploaded a few pictures here also.

They were married on the 1st December at Allington Church - the service was carried out by the lovely Steph - and they held their reception at Allington Manor, which is a delightful venue only a short walk away. We saw John and Loralie earlier this week when they came across to see their pictures. It is always nice to meet up with couples again after the day and it helps to speed up the process of selecting pictures for their album.

Well it has been a busy year and it is nearly time for Christmas, so I will sign off and wish you all a very, happy Christmas and best wishes for 2008. A special big thanks to all the couples who have entrusted us with photographing their wedding this year - we thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and capturing your day in pictures. We really do love weddings and it is a special privilege to be part of someone's big day.

In The Beginning...

Often people ask us about how we first met, or why we decided to form PureLight so I thought it was about time I told you all about how PureLight started.

Well back in 2006, I was running Samantha Hook Photography and had met Glen once or twice at wedding fairs. He seemed like a nice chap and his photographs were lovely. However, it was thanks to his wife, Janet, that we actually got to know each other. I used to be quite a regular at our local LA Fitness and started to attend classes with Janet (Janet still goes, I, sadly, am a lapsed gym bunny). As most ladies will understand, after a hard hour of legs, bums and tums you need a coffee and a bit of cake! So often Glen would find me in his kitchen having a good old gossip! As a result we got to know more and more about each other's style and started giving each other support and advice.

Then I had a really big wedding coming up. Glen had offered to work with me, if I ever needed it, but I was a little nervous of asking. Still it was a really big wedding and I could really use his help!

Well, we were pretty surprised at how well we worked together and how good the results were. By working with another seasoned pro. we found that we could be far more creative than we would be on our own and the results spoke for themselves, the photographs were great.

So we started to regularly attend each other's weddings, when we could. And you know what? We just got better and better! What's more, by working with Glen, I found that I was being pushed to create better and more creative photographs, even when I was on my own. We started to take a critical look at each other's work too. I wasn't used to having this kind of criticism, but boy did my photography improve as a result. Our styles were different but complimentary and together we were able to develop a style of visual story-telling that was new and exciting.

So we loved working together and started to make plans for ways in which we could promote our businesses jointly and really offer the best photography in the most luxurious albums. As you can imagine, it wasn't long before we realised that what we really wanted to do was offer a whole new service to our clients. And that meant, a whole new business - PureLight.

So, after a lot of hard work - here we are! It was a pretty tough decision to swap my own successful business for a joint venture. Especially being used to making all my own decisions and always being right! But I'm so glad I did. In our fledgling year we have created this website, which I could only have dreamed of on my own! We've attended the National Wedding Show at the NEC, we're able to design and deliver albums from the very best manufacturers in the world and, the important bit, we have lots of really fun and exciting weddings to shoot next year. I can't wait!

On the subject of album designs..

It has been a busy few weeks for us. We've had our heads down and have been busy beavering away getting as many album designs done as our little fingers (on the mouse and keyboard) can manage. The exciting part is when you see someone's album come together, with a selection of pictures that tell the story from the day. As we get more completed we will upload them to the album design page, so do have a look.

Traveling by train...I never used to do much train travel, but I use the train quite a bit now. I went out to Nottingham on Wednesday to meet another photographer and our web design company. It was only £4.50 return from Newark to Nottingham, and only took 30 mins each way - far better than using my car. I guess the key is being near a station at both ends of the journey.

I have a wedding free weekend coming up, so we are off to London for the day to see the Christmas lights and generally chill out - although hopefully not literally. Taking the train again, and making use of my family railcard. Must remember to take my camera!

We love.....I have added some new pages to our "we love" section, so feel free to have a look. We like to recommend other suppliers who we know we can fully recommend.
bye for now, Glen

Reprints for Christmas

I have had a few enquiries about how long reprint orders take and whether they will arrive before Christmas. Just to say the orders are processed normally by the lab same or next day and posted to you. The last posting date is 20th Dec, which means all orders received prior to say Tuesday 18th should reach you in time, and certainly any orders placed next week should be okay.
