Fawsley Hall, Northamptonshire

Here are some pictures from the open day at Fawsley Hall, held yesterday. This was an open day rather than a wedding show, so it was a chance for people to see the venue as it would be laid out for a wedding - without the hustle and bustle of a wedding show.

I was asked by the venue director to come along and take some pictures - and here are some of the results. You can see more at our recent work gallery:- Fawsley Hall Pictures.

Wedding Photography at Woodborough Hall

Jade and I photographed at Woodborough Hall back in the summer. They have recently refurbished the house and they are making it available for weddings. It is a very nice venue, with plenty of character and lovely grounds.

Here is a link to a sample album we have recently produced for them:-

Lincolnshire Wedding Photography

Sticking on the subject of geography, one of our most popular counties is Lincolnshire. Whilst we are based in Nottinghamshire, we are on the border with Lincolnshire. For some strange reason, Sleaford has been a popular location for us this year - perhaps there is something in the air that way!

Some of our favourite venues in Lincolnshire are Branston Hall, near Lincoln, Belton Woods, near Grantham, The Petwood Hotel, near Woodhall Spa, Stoke Rochford Hall, near Grantham, Harlaxton Manor , near Grantham and Allington Manor, also near Grantham.

Stoke Rochford Wedding Photography

I have just uploaded the images for Jason and Caroline's wedding to our recent work pages. This is the third wedding this year we have photographed at Stoke Rochford, which is just south of Grantham. The other two weddings are Robert & Zoe and Ellie & Andrew.

There was a major fire a few years ago at Stoke Rochford and this meant the main hall was completely gutted. Major restoration work followed along with plenty of scaffolding and the main hall was out of use until this summer. It has been beautifully restored and I am sure looks much better now than it did before the fire. There are lovely grounds at Stoke Rochford and inside is equally grand, as you can see from our pictures.

We would certainly recommend Stoke Rochford as a good venue for wedding photography.

Nottinghamshire Wedding Photography

Increasingly our weddings have taken us further afield and over the past 12 months we have photographed weddings in Hampshire, London, Shropshire, North Wales, Herefordshire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Birmingham and Lichfield. Travel is less of an issue when you are providing all-day photography.

We do, of course, though photograph many weddings in our home county of Nottinghamshire. Venues include Colwick Hall, Bestwood Lodge, Holme Pierrepont Hall and Norwood Park.

Wedding photography has changed so much over the past few years and using a local photographer is less important than finding the right photographer for you - well it is if our experience is anything to go by.

Holdenby House, Northants

This is one of our favourite venues this year. You can see the pictures from Amy and Richard's wedding in our recent gallery. The house is still a private home and therefore can only be used for weddings a few times each year, when the family are away. It is a lovely venue. It is not so big that the wedding party is either confined to one part or becomes too spread out; and is it not too small so that guests are tightly packed into a few rooms. Here are a few pictures:

There is a long drive to the front of the house and this view shows the extent of the property and its architecture.

This is the room where the ceremony was held and was used in the evening as one of the reception rooms.

This is the main reception area, which has the most wonderful light, as you can see.

The wedding reception meal was held in this room and was then used for the entertainment later. The amount of light coming into the room was great, as often older houses can have very dimly lit interior rooms.

This gives you an idea of the expanse at the back of the house, with a large grassed area and then extensive grounds.

This is Amy coming down the main staircase for the first time in her wedding dress, to be greeted by her dad.

Stapleford Park, Leicestershire

We have done a few weddings at this venue. Our last one was the wedding of Mike and Sarah in April this year. The weather was rather cold, so there was not much chance for outside photography. The grounds and the venue itself are stunning. It is not within everyone's budget but it is still a lovely place to have a wedding. Here are a few photographs from Mike and Sarah's wedding.

The Priest House Hotel

The Priest House Hotel is a luxury hotel just by Castle Donington (between Nottingham and Derby, just off the M1). It is part of the Hand Picked Hotels Group and I can see why it has a "handed picked" status - it is set in a wonderful location, next to the River Trent and the original watermills. The location dates back to the Domesday Book of 1086. It is a very nice hotel and a great place for a wedding. There is also a Spa and fitness area as well. We have a number of weddings booked at the Priest House this year.

Most of all though the hotel has a very warm and homely feel, with plenty of character.

One of the interesting things about weddings are the people you get to meet. One of the guests at Robert and Zoe's wedding (February 2008) did the marketing material for this hotel, which seems a small coincidence but it was nice to put a face behind the prints, because we were very impressed by the marketing literature.

That's it from me for now...hope you have a good day.

The Priest House Hotel

We were at the Priest House Hotel yesterday at Castle Donington, exhibiting at their wedding show. We had a great time and met lots of people, and if we met you, then hi from us!

It is a lovely hotel, in an idyllic location, next to the river Trent and adjacent to the original water mills. Apparently the site of the Priest House was first mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 - so, as you can guess, there is plenty of character. The hotel is one of fourteen unique, luxury country house hotels in the Hand Picked collection.
